Capp Street Project: Michel Blazy

French artist Michel Blazy creates spare, quirkily beautiful sculptures out of humble and ephemeral materials, including mold, grass, sprouts, soap bubbles, plastic bags and even toilet paper. Resembling a cross between a science experiment, avant-garde gardening and arte povera, his works examine processes of growth and degeneration. Blazy's installations are designed to be unpredictable; they evolve and decay, suggesting metaphors for various systems of social behavior as they are transformed often fatally over time. For this solo project, Blazy will install a work in the nave of CCAC's architecturally renowned San Francisco campus.
