Warped Space
Warped Space presents artworks that generate hypothetical spaces. Putting the hex on the clarity and legibility of that old euclidean model, they invite you into unpredictable spaces that fluctuate, dissolve, or multiply, often altering your sense of the surrounding architecture. Using different means and media, each of these works engineers a psychological, as well as perceptual, disequilibrium, addressing you from a point where your "objective" seeing meets hallucinatory vision.
In deploying art's ability to stir the mind by targeting the body, many of these artists are reinvestigating a phenomenological terrain associated with 1960s light-and-space art, op art, and minimalism. Considering these earlier movements as unfinished projects, their work builds on its historical precedents by, in many cases, embedding conceptual and narrative content into vision-altering artworks.
